It's hard to believe that they would have made entirely fake coins rather than grinding off the reverse of Two Cents and gluing them together. But it seems that's what they did. Images for posterity:

You would think the color would be the same on both sides if it was struck. Could be a machinist special where Two Cents are machined in a lathe, so they fit together. If you could see the edge you could tell for sure. That is my guess.

Here's a much nicer one dated 1977 - on ebay for $16 plus shipping: 157399486225And my 1942 Mercurvelt dime was only $10.

One might question what writing is on the other side of the flip - a prominent notation of ' Magician's coin'? Seems the seller only wants buyers to see one side.
