For 1941 I have two more interesting notes from The Netherlands. First is a 20 gulden note, P-54. This note features a portrait of Queen Emma, the mother of Queen Wilhelmina. She had served as regent for Wilhemina from 1890 until she turned 18 in 1898. Numista credits Rembrandt for the scene to the left of Admiral de Ruyter's fleet at Algiers. I'm not sure that's correct, however; it appears to me it's an adaptation of the 1662 engraving "The Dutch fleet under Michiel de Ruyter in front of the city of Algiers" by Bastiaen Stopendael (see it below the image of the note). If anyone has more information on this, please share! Next is a 25 gulden note, P-50. Unfortunately this note has been stamped repeatedly with "BUITEN OMLOOP/DEMONETISED/HORS DE COURS" which notes in Dutch, English and French that the note is out of circulation/demonetized. The face of the note features a portrait of Willem Mees, the president of the central bank of The Netherlands from 1863-1884.

Very interesting Dutch notes @hokiefan_82. I wish I had some info to share but all I can say is that it wouldn't be the 1st time Numista had their info mixed up (re: P-54). Contributors are all collector-volunteers. Referees flag stuff. When I started contributing about 5 years ago I was constantly flagged & challenged on the most basic contributions so I just gave up. It was simply too time-consuming. For 1940 I have Bank of England P-366 10 Shillings https://en.numista.com/203296Apparently this was an Emergency issue during WW2 which were released about the same time the treasury realized that their White-Fivers were being reproduced. Their colour, security threads & complicated design (with microprinting) were an effort to deter the Nazis threat to BoE's currency. And New Zealand P-159a £1 https://en.numista.com/204075This note features Captain James Cook on the front and his ship, the Endeavour, on the reverse.

Great notes, walk2dwater! For 1940 I have a 500 Francs from France: Ironically for a note first released shortly before the German occupation in WW2, the figure on the front of this note represents Peace! The reverse shows a young man and woman working in agriculture. My second note from 1940 is an Indian 1 Rupee. As with 1-rupee notes I've posted earlier, the two sides of the note show an Indian One Rupee coin, and therefore are dated!

1939... Another French 500-franc note, but a big contrast from the one I posted yesterday! Known as the 'blue and pink note' (Bleu et Rose), this design of note dated from the 1880s and remained in circulation until 1943!

Quote: this design of note dated from the 1880s and remained in circulation until 1943 Yeah. you can tell But it's a nice note! The pastel colour scheme gives it a refreshingly cool look. Here are my 1939 notes: France - P# 83 - 5 Francs 1939 (PMG 67 EPQ) Germany - P# 185 - 20 Reichsmark 1939 (PMG 67 EPQ)

Quote: Great notes, walk2dwater Beautiful notes walk2dwater, Spence and NumisRob! -Thanks guys! Quote: Thanks for the info on Numista, walk2dwater, I appreciate it. Useful site with some helpful data, but moderated by mostly coin people. Quote: 1939...Another French 500-franc note That's a massive looking note Rob! Such eye candy! For 1939 I have an el-cheapo P-110 One Thousand Drachmai from Greece: https://en.numista.com/212108And an AU P-25a Ten Shilling from Australia: https://en.numista.com/202341https://www.allcoinvalues.com/austr...-values.htmlI got this note b/c I liked the scene Manufactures presented on the back. It is pretty common but harder to get in higher grades. This 10 Bob from "down under" was one of my first "big" World note purchases (about 10 years ago).

Quote: very cool Australian note walk2dwater! -Thanks @SchwarzerEinser & I really like your 2 Gems, especially the design on the 5 Francs! There's lots of action on the back. All I have for 1938 is this small 2 Pesetas P-95 from Ministry of Finance Spain: https://en.numista.com/207739According to Numista of the 20,000,000 issued, some were released during the Spanish Civil war & some were issued at the end (ceased to have value) & this (+ low value/small format) is likely why they've been so cheap in UNC considering their old age.

The 2 Pesetas is small but very pretty and colorful. I don't have any 1938 notes, so I will take this no date (1937-47) Madagascar note as a wildcard because it's within the range: Madagascar - P#37 - 20 Francs ND (1937-47) (PMG 67 EPQ)
