I have been noting that you never really have no questions on errors or varieties about the coins you have posted about your coins so far, so I think that moving forward you should post coins you are displaying mostly due to how nice they appear, that they should be posted in the Main US Coin forum area and not in the V&E sub forum.
I'll move this one up to the correct location for you.

It's a nice cent. Most of these are severely carbon spotted now days.
The coin has some problems but finding one nicer has become difficult.
The real problem with discussing such coins is that very few people are interested in later date coins and few people can tell a good one from a bad one. Welcome to my world!

A very nice looking coin.
I have noticed personally that for whatever reason, there seems to be an abundance of 1968 cents of all mint marks in remarkably good condition.
I've come across quite a bit in rolls.
A lot of them seem to be near BU.
Wonder why this year in particular?

Wonder why this year in particular? A lot of people saw the restoration of mint marks and proof sets as well as the first S mint coin since 1965 to set aside huge numbers. Well, not huge numbers compared to something like the '58-D, but still many millions. All three mint marks were impacted but the Philly was saved in the largest quantity and nice chBU or better coins constituted more than two thirds of the mint sets which were also popular with a mintage over 2 million. The S mint has always had a premium but I suspect is a lot of people thought they didn't have enough. Also SA mints seem to be more widely saved but the absolute number won't be known until the markets seek them out. I would guess that in very high grade (MS-65 or better) the S will be the second most common after the Denver. But in nice chBU it might be the scarcest. The Denver was the most common in nice chBU and nice specimens still survive after all these year. The Philly will be tough in chBU unless you don't mind carbon spots. All three '68 cents will prove difficult in nice Gem condition with Philly far and away the tough one. Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Agree with cladking, the 1968P is a tough coin in gem! I'm still looking for a better one.

Interesting. I was sorting out all of the change from my wife's car today. There was a bunch. One of the coins was an almost perfect 1968 one cent coin with full mint luster. Made me stop and wonder where it had been for the last 58 years. It's going into my hoard of copper pennies.
