Pouring rain here today so a good day for noodling some coins. Found this 2024 $1 mob of roos coin with a missing leg on the middle roo. Same as the 2015 coin. No matter which way I tilt the coin under light, there is no evidence of a leg there. Another addition to my "odds and sods" collection.

Was wondering if it would ever occur again?

Thanks SallyG.

Nice find, Sally! Is that from an overpolished die?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Hi All. Thanks for your interest. I'm not sure if the missing leg is a result of an issue with the die or maybe wear during circulation. That particular leg seems to be very subtle on most years so I guess it might be a result of either?

Anyway, here are a couple more that might be of interest? I have tried to get good pics but I think my lens might be scratched so apologies for the poor quality.

2011 - cannot see any hint of a leg on the one on the right no matter how I tilt the coin under light. The other one on the left has a faint leg?

I have also found these examples from 1998, 2008 and 2009. The 1998 doesn't show any signs of a leg regardless of how I tilt it under light but the other two show a very faint 'edge' of a leg under some angles.

Anyway, I am happy to include them in my "Odds and Sods" collection.
