Finally a token I don't need help with identifying per se, but still curious if anyone else has any information with it. Neat shape on the token, bit of a shame on the condition though.

A token issued in 1906 for Oklahoma either to commemorate or promote its combining with the Indian Territory to become the state of Oklahoma (the 46th State), which was not ratified until late 1907.

I do not know what the "OTSC(I)SCoTEX" text on the reverse refers to, possibly the manufacturer? With closer magnification, it appears the first "C" was once an "O" bit was ground/worn down, possibly what also wore down the following "I" (possibly a "1").

Either way, an interesting piece of Oklahoma history.

This is an old version of a "mint your own coin" token. They were dispensed as souvenirs from machines which resemble a cross between a one-armed bandit and a Dymo labeller. You put in your money to purchase a token, then you are given the opportunity to stamp whatever message or inscription you wish onto your coin. This is done one letter at a time, by turning a big dial or letter-wheel to the selected letter, then pulling the big lever on the side to stamp that letter onto the coin, then repeating until you either finish saying what you want to say or you run out of letter-spaces.

This website calls them "metal-typer tokens". I recall purchasing one of these tokens from a machine installed in Union Station in Toronto, Canada in 1983. Here's a YouTube video of an arcade machine collector who owns one of the machines, noting how they were used:

Thus, "OTSC(I)SCoTEX" isn't a manufactuer's mark, it's the (somewhat cryptic) message the purchaser of this particular medal wished to stamp upon it.

Sap, that is much better than I've been able to find, and a fascinating machine and story to create these pieces! Thanks!

As much as I wonder what the struck text might mean, I'm fine with not knowing what it may stand for. And who knows, maybe one day I'll find somebody who wants this token and knows what it is likely to represent

I took a picture of the "metal-typer token" I made personally in 1983 and posted it on the forum a long time ago; here's the pic from that old thread:

As you can see, a somewhat less cryptic message than the OP's token.

The "newer" of these tokens seem a bit less creative than they could be - not that mine has any particularly fantastical details either. If I could have made these instead of pressed pennies, I might've had a bit of a field day with them!
