The Mayflower Compact is indeed an important part of history and the early settlement of those who colonized the Americas. It is also a critical pact that help to lay the foundation for a new nation to find it's footing by declaring independence from Britain and the "Old World Order" in 1776.
The Mayflower Compact, George Washington, Declaration of Independence and the Constitution quarters all commemorate very important parts of our nation's history and some of those whose foresight and courage brought forth a new nation. The Gettysburg Address Quarter is a perfect addition.
However, our nation's history didn't end in the 18th Century or with the Civil War. Originally, the designs that were approved celebrated and recognized our journey to achieve "a more perfect Union," to fulfill the promise and goals of the Founders and Framers of our Constitution. I wish that at least one of the quarters had remained recognizing the women's sufferage and/or the struggle for Civil Rights and equality.
