I hope I didn't sound like I was attacking anyone in the hobby who may own any of these coins/tokens, as that wasn't by any means my intent. I just question who would design this post mortem. I personally wouldn't own any, but in no way do I pass judgement on anyone who would.

Again, if anyone was offended, I apologize!

Hi, the topic is very interesting on it's morality issues, just a question, I hope you don't mind, Was there a German coin issued during A.Hitler's rule, showing his face on the coin? if Yes, kindly advise what year? I do not intend to look for it, just would like to know, if he was successful in coining himself. Thank you

TreasHunt answered your question earlier in the thread, Nic

Quote:
No coins with Hitler on them were ever issued by the 3rd reich.

He did show up on some stamps, however.

Some people actually have a "Despots and Dictators" collection, many of them are/were egomaniacs and love to see their ugly mugs on coins, currency, and stamps.
Rest in Peace

No offense perceived or taken, hippiebrian. I just didn't want anyone, who might consider collecting coins depicting less-than-savor characters, to be discouraged from seeking them out, or for politics and morals to get mixed with collecting. If I had a coin showing Nero to add to my Romans, I'd be very happy, but I'm just as happy with my Constantines.

Nic, not sure if "ever" is correct - just that the 3rd Reich didn't put any out. I think there are some commems with him on them.. Hitler & Hindenburg or Mussolini, a couple of different ones with just him.
