I just returned from my LCS. I went there because I've grown weary of waiting to fill in holes in my Whitman folders with common date (i. e. nothing rare) coins from change. (Most of the dates are 21st century, with a few late 20th century.) I have so few remaining that I figured that I'd spend a few bucks to just get the missing coins and be done with it. But he doesn't stock single coins like that. The only way I could buy them from him would be to buy mint sets, which I didn't want to do. Back in the day, I subscribed to Numismatic News newspaper, and there were always plenty of display ads where you could buy this sort of stuff. Nowadays, it seems everybody's first thought would be to go to ebay. But I don't want the hassle of hunting for what I want from Joe Citizen and paying a lot more than I should. I want to buy from an established dealer through their store. So can anyone recommend such a place? Thanks. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

@jps, I'm not sure how many eyeballs the "want list" subforum here on CCF gets, but it might be worth a shot: https://goccf.com/f/15

Man, I must be lucky. My nearby LCS has boxes and boxes of coins in 2x2's to pick through, in various conditions and prices. I've noticed, though, that not all LCS do this sort of thing. Outside of that, I've found that the easiest way to find individual coins is ebay. Find a reputable seller. The one I recommend above most is Coins with a Human Touch. Nice coins, doesn't use stock photos (mostly from what I've experienced), decent prices, and really nice guy. I've purchased several coins from him, including probably the best looking Liberty nickels I've bought. https://www.ebay.com/str/ancientoutpostBut, that's just like, my opinion, man.

I second ebay or one of the internet sites where people can post coins for sale.

I've used ebay to fill several annoying gaps. Just put in the coin, date and mintmark and you may well find someone selling one.

Thanks for recommending ebay. In fact, I did order three of the coins I need right after I made this post. Low price plus free shipping! Thank you, makecents. When I get a few free moments, I'll come up with a list.

Something that may be worth looking into. Put a want list out on the forum and see if anyone here has what you are looking for. Many here have some extras that they may be willing to sell presuming you are talking about common coins. Just a thought. Good luck in your search.

I think of it this way, besides the downside of having to wait for the coin to come.... You can shop at home and browse all the livelong day for coins. Oh, without having to worry about getting to the LCS in time for them closing, or having to worry about how much cash you have on hand. This is another thing that irks me, the fact that I have to use "cash only" because this is how LCS generally work. I get why, and I can't say anything against that. It's just a pain in the ass for me, as I don't carry cash. I think of it as a similar scenario to shopping on Amazon. Just try to find decent sellers that use stock photos for anything that might be on the more expensive side.

I buy almost exclusively from ebay - I just look at everything that fits my search, then I examine each seller for the amount that they sell and their feedback score, then I compare other like coins from the 'sold' listings to see if the price is compatible with other sales.
