Won this from a GC auction last Sunday and was wondering what you would grade it at...............the back of the plastic case has some cloudiness to it.

I guess they didn't like that little "ding" behind Lincoln's head neck.......that's ok with me for $32 total (Bid + BP).

I like it at VF-30, pretty full wheat lines.

That's older damage, well toned over by the pics. For a coin of this age, it's virtually nothing to me, just part of its story. I wouldn't bag this coin for that damage - it's not horrific since it's old. It's just not good enough for PCGS.

Not worth slabbing at this grade. I don't know what some folks are thinking, especially with the "damage".

True - but these are the kind of coins that I look for in auctions. Dealers will see the "Details" label, throw out a low bid, and never return leaving them up for "prime pickings" .

when you have a hit like the one on the obv they look at the area, depth, length and whether it displaces metal. in this case its in a key area of the coin is fairly deep and has displaced metal. therefore the details grade
