Nope. It would cost more to slab it than what the coin is worth.

I agree. Common date silver dime in circulated condition. An album coin or junk silver, most of the value is in the metal.

it sounds like you are fairly new to collecting. here is the costs to grade a coin.

there are only 2 reasons to grade a coin

1. its a rare coin that needs authenticated and preserved
2. you are planning on selling the coin and the cost of acquisition plus the grading fee's would warrant it without chewing up all your profit

if you are not familiar with grading here are the costs:

PCGS charges a minimum of $69 for a subscription other subscription levels include grading vouchers though so you could reduce these costs. add to the subscription cost, per coin grading cost which is a minimum of $23, shipping & ins both ways (1-4 coins is $27 if the total value is under $1000)

NGC - economy grading tier is $22, plus $10 handling fee, plus $28 for shipping (1-5 coins) and insurance both ways.

ANACS - Economy - No Gold: $18 per item for items valued up to $500. plus $29 for shipping (1-4 coins) and insurance both ways.

CAC - $99 subscription ($50 grading credit), economy grading $15, gold $28, $40 shipping/handling/ins

Not worth grading.

I'll add my own thoughts on TPGs. The business model is based on grading the same coin multiple times - resubmissions. And the only way to ensure that business model plays out is to hand out a whole bunch of details grades. A details grade will most likely cause the coin to be cracked out and resubmitted at some point by someone. Just my .02. I recommend you absolutely forget about TPGs unless, as Panzaldi mentions, you are concerned with authenticity of a rarity.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

Thank you for the info. Very helpful. Honestly even if its worth nothing, it is a treasure to me and will pass it on to my kids. Hopefully they pass it on and so forth. Who knows maybe will be worth something 40years from now
