I'm not sure where this should be posted, so if Mods want to relocate it, thank you. During the run of 50 State Quarters, the US Mint produced collector spoons. I bought two of them; one for my state of residence and one for a state I would rather reside in. I'm not having much luck finding information on them via web search for production figures and such. Potentially obscurity could be a positive thing. But I have found them on ebay selling for $8, so there doesn't really seem to be much demand. But I'm not really looking to sell, I'm mainly interested in finding out how many were made, before I stash these away. Does anyone here have a link or two relating to the 50 State Quarter Collector Spoons, sold by the US Mint? TIA.

Can you post up some images of the spoons - we can use them to help you in your research.

I might be able to get some shots, but it will take some time. I understand photos of screens are not acceptable. Would it be acceptable to post photos snatched from some ebay ads? If no, it could be a few days.

This is all I've found, so far: Incomplete, and from duck.ai which requires verification from a more trusted source. No idea where the A.I. got the information, or the conclusion that some spoons have had a 'healthy aftermarket'. The ones I see offered for sale wouldn't indicate that. But, I'd still like to know, for curiosity's sake. My spoons are from 2004 and 2005.

Thanks for that! Yes, the wording of the Coin World article makes it pretty obvious that it is the source that duck.ai used. Great sleuthing on your part, halfamind! There doesn't appear to be a lot of information online. And no, I don't have the Kentuckey error, unfortunately. I have to believe that somewhere there exists a complete list of production figures. Thanks for the info, it is at least more complete than the A.I. capsule. For the record, I have the 2004 Florida and the 2005 Oregon. What mint are the coins from? LOL, I may never know without destroying the spoons, but I'm guessing Philadelphia.

Vector, I also have one of these and by coincidence it also features the Oregon quarter. Here are some pics for everyone else. I can't tell if the quarter is pressed in or glued in place. US 25 Cents 2005 Oregon - US Mint Spoon

I had never heard of these before today. Spoons were an old school thing to collect, we had a neighbor that had a display case with dozens. I think quite a number end up at Goodwill and other thrift shops.
Now I am interested to know what your research eventually turns up! =)

I didn't realize how obscure they were until I started trying to find their production numbers, Brandmeister. Beyond the Coin World article halfamind provided, I haven't found anything more detailed. I'll keep looking as time allows, but the pickings seem thin.
