I got this coin from a friend after buying coins from him. That was a couple of years ago. It was in the lot. Could this be a spooned or a Dryer Coin? Whatever happened to it, it's pretty interesting. Definitely PMD. This would make a good conversation piece. This is a "Copperhead" coin or badge. Here's a link that explains their existance ... https://www.coinbooks.org/v26/esylu...isplay%20it.

I wrote an article about them back in 2019. Scroll up & down the page to view other examples.

Lady Liberty is so perfectly framed my first thought is that it was spun down to fit in some form of jewelry... Definitely interesting

My pleasure, fellas. Over the years, I had accumulated a half dozen or so of these copperhead coins. I figured that there was perhaps a common cause for this phenomenon. Sure enough, I found some early newspaper articles about the Copperhead movement, left wing, seditionist riots and such.

These coppers aren't worth much, numismatically speaking, say $30-$40. Their value as Civil War artifacts, the Copperhead connection story, makes them desireable pieces to CW collectors.
