morgans dad
Thanks for the pat on the back, I needed that.

Yeah my early feedback, I used to keep track of what I used to buy and sell. I do have 100% though, did have some loonies to deal with over the past 10 years. I quit selling with that when you couldn't leave negatives as a seller.

How did you find the coins inside your roll? These nickels are not only ugly, they are prone to some nasty bag marks and contact marks. I hope mine are at least half nice. I want to get a good one for my set.
Tomorrow they'll be 15 bucks a roll, I just know it!

Wheezy, I do not plan to open the 2-rolls I won, I will wait till they hit rock-bottom and pick-up some more and then look.

I see the reverse coin on the end of one of the rolls is not damaged, just the opposite very sharp strike, crisp detail, the quality from what I do see, very sweet.
Now I hope some day when I choose to open the rolls the others will also be as sweet.Your posts were the inspiration for me to want this coin and I could not wait any longer, you would think the U S Mint would offer this, the Nickel and Dime rolls for sale, but NO!!.

We need a collector friendly Mint director, or some collectors in Congress to help OUR cause!

I am wondering what wheezydog is going to do with the other 39 nickels in his roll after one is chosen for his collection.

That's right, I pretty much have disposed of what extras I had. disposed, LOL

I may need to hang onto some to trade for other P and D mints for the coming years.
I don't think these are going to be the new 1950 D nickels. I don't know why the 1982 P&D nickels and 1983 P&D nickels get as much as they do?
Practically everyone knows better than to spend a 2009 P and I have yet to hear somebody say they got one in change.

They are nicky and baggy looking too.
I see prices have somewhat stabilized since my purchase. hovering a little higher and occasionally a lower deal will squeak by. Out of 40 nickels only 1 was acceptable for me with probably MS64 maybe MS65 full steps.
There were a few others that are keepers ( compared to the rest ) and the vast majority were about MS62 or MS63.
I prefer my obverse with Jefferson looking like he needs a new Bic razor rather than having gouges in the field.
A few of these were tempting to make pocket pieces out of them.

That would be interesting to see how the design would wear, and it probably would improve them a hair.
I was just so obsessed with having that hole in my set, I had to buy a roll. Not a sign of the D's yet?
This is just an awful situation.

There were no mint sets that year, so all of the gem ones had to come from mint gift shop souvenir sets or from circulation.

LOL, the nickels keep getting less "rare" by the month

Denver Nickels Continue Climb
By Numismatic News
August 21, 2009

The Denver nickel production surprise of June got a little bigger in the month of July when another 6,960,000 coins ran off the presses, bringing the 2009 total to 46,800,000.

But as was the case in June, Philadelphia struck no additional nickels in July. In fact, Philadelphia struck only 151,600,000 cents in July and 1,960,000 Presidential dollars and called it quits.

Denver was more active, but not by much. It struck 120,400,000 cents, 13 million Territorial quarters and 27,440,000 Presidential dollars.

Both facilities combined to produce 321,360,000 coins to bring the year-to-date total to 2,584,540,000 coins.

Not shown in these tables was the news that the American Samoa quarter mintage totals are now the lowest in 2009.

Only 39,600,000 were struck at Denver, giving this the lowest mintage of the 2009 designs. The Philadelphia total was a bit higher at 42,600,000.

Combined the total is 82,200,000, 5,400,000 pieces fewer than the total for the Guam design.
