Numismata 2026, Munich, Germany
2026, March 7, 8

Just visited NUMISMATA 2026 in Munich, Germany.
It is one of the bigger shows in Europe. Although the venue is smaller than say the World Fair of Money, it still is a very large hall. Lots of dealers from all over Europe and a few from the US as well.
The most popular product appeared to be 2 Euro coins as almost any seller had these on offer. There was also lots of paper currency, mint sets, and modern silver coins. I did not see as many classic silver coins as you have at American coin shows.
Unfortunately, on Saturday morning it was super crowded with barely any space to move. Another disappointing thing was that many attendees and dealers were rather rude and often elbowed themselves into place. Dealers rarely acknowledged you or said "hi". Again, very different from US coin shows.
In the end I stayed about 4 hours and was able to purchase a few hard to find coins for my sets. I will post these later.

Glad you had, umm, 'fun' and managed to get some item you wanted.
Is it that normal to be that rude at European venues like that?

I am not sure. It was just very noticeable to me, being only used to US coin shows. Perhaps the mood was due to the overcrowded venue which made people cranky?
Another thing I noticed was how the coins and currency were displayed. In the US you have a table were things are fairly spread out and easy to see. But at NUMISMATA the tables were basically stuffed with coins and binders such that there was no moving space at all. If you wanted to see coins in a binder at the back of the table, you literally had to hang over the table to browse it. No way to lift it closer. No chairs to sit on either.

I have never been to a show outside of the US. Would like to, as I've been to so many big US shows. So far, nothing beats the FUN shows.

Probably they wanted to grab the good coins before anyone else. Not many big coinshows in Europe :)
