I've come across some interesting details I'd never noticed about some of my own tokens until their high-resolution full-screen photographs were recently published in the online catalog for Noonan's upcoming semi-annual tokens sale.
Among the handful of surprises were the delicate little ringlets and curls -- or is it a hairnet? -- on top of George's head in this depiction of him, which is variously attributed to either Conrad Kuchler or Thomas Halliday.
Has this level of detailed engraving in the king's effigy appeared on other coinage of the era?
