I'm sorry to see that CKcollectiblies2 did not make a guess in Round 8. Too bad, they were in podium contention. Alas, this means one less player eligible for a Participation Prize. Onward now to the round results. Nickelsearcher 15,000 Post ContestRound 8 Results

Petespockets55 remains in the drivers seat for the championship. The remaining 2 rounds are the time for a handful of the players to make a podium surge for the 3 main event prizes. Nearly everyone else remains eligible for one of the lovely Participation Prizes. The Round 9 container will be posted later today.

@HondoB - your reply causes me to wonder if somehow my using 'everyday objects' to assist the Players to gauge scale of the containers is somehow flawed? Or, equally likely, perhaps the Players just don't have the interest/skills to use the size of the everyday objects to calculate an estimate for the container volume? I suspect a few of the Players are doing some math to guide their estimates - and I further suspect that they are near the top of the standings. Regardless -- we are moving onto Round 9 and the final chase for the Main Event podium and premium hand-made David prizes. I'm enjoying everyone participating and giving me an opportunity to give back to you.

Nickelsearcher 15,000 Post Contest - Round 9Guessing Deadline Saturday June 6 @ 1PM EST Best of Wishes to all the Players. p.s. - a quiet hint. If you guess less than 100 nickels you are not likely to gain any bonus points. Just saying for those who tend to guess low.

I have found the everyday objects to be quite helpful. Especially in the previous round with the ruler, I calculated it to be about one-third of a box of nickels (666), inevitably give or take a few.

Good feedback Joshu-a, thank you. If I host a 20K contest -- should I simply use a 6" ruler for each container? That seems to me to dumb down the challenge. But I welcome the Players input. Take for discussion sake this new Round 9 container. Its everyday object is obviously a Bostich electric pencil sharpener. Granted most of the Players don't own this exact pencil sharpener -- but it's not a lot of work to Goggle the dimensions and use that information to judge scale. Perhaps I'm overthinking this. Let's just have some fun guessing nickels and win some prizes.

Quote: I suspect a few of the Players are doing some math to guide their estimates - and I further suspect that they are near the top of the standings. I did, but still missed. I used the Ike as a guide to size. Used an average diameter and then used the pi r 2 x h to estimate a volume, allowing for an assumed thickness of the glass, and then divided that my the volume of a nickel, and then dropped 500 off to allow for space, and still failed.
