Next month at participating Australia Post stores you will have the opportunity of finding two coloured $2 Bluey coins in your change. There will also be a folder containing 5 other Bluey $2 coins with two extra spaces for the two coloured coins available through the till. https://www.ramint.gov.au/about-us/...n-collectionThe folder will also be available through the RAM site.

Very interesting. The move to $2 denomination instead of the previous $1 coins ensures that these will be popular even more so than the previous "Bluey" releases. I wonder how soon we will see the usual culprit 'dealers' selling on ebay PRIOR to release? Couldn't find a picture of the coins for circulation but I expect they will be along similar lines to the cartoon style on the other coins. My local Post Office hasn't bothered with the lollipop coins for a while now. As usual I will have to rely on ebay for some uncirculated examples. I really wish the RAM would stop this style of releasing circulating coins. I don't really care about the other five coins but I do want to keep my collection of uncirculated $2 circulating coins intact. It will be interesting to see how this release goes.

Surprise, Surprise! Already there. For around $30, we can buy a "preorder" item from a seller (dealer?) Who also has plenty of other recent releases for sale too. Hmmmm? Is this really ethical trading?

Bluey coins were released today so I called into the PO and swapped a $10 note for these five circulating coins ... better than paying $9.95 each, or $16.50 for the pair, which is the going price on ebay atm!

It's nice that you can go to the PO and get what you want, here we have to what for them to come into circulation or if you are lucky a bank may get them. Where I'm the banks don't get any.

Not surprisingly it's so popular that they are sold out at the Post office...

Sold out? Maybe they ended up on ebay instead of being sold through the intended or advertised route? I just had a look at the Australia Post online shop and there is no mention of the Bluey coins that I could find. Only two listings of Bluey stamps - none of the coin sets at all. Plenty of other coins even though they are sold out. Why not mention the Bluey coins even if they are sold out? There are some available on ebay but it looks like they are mostly listed by sellers who aren't the usual dealers for a change. I wonder if any noodlers will find any of the (supposedly) circulated colored Bluey coins? It all looks a bit odd to me. Why have the ads disappeared and where are the dealers on ebay? Perhaps someone is trying to cash in on the popularity of the theme and then run another production run to meet the artificially created demand? Cynical me, that's silly, but it's certainly unusual for the ads to disappear- what is going on?

The Blue circulated coins must not be popular this time round as I was offered bags yesterday from my local post office. I also managed to get both the Proof coins and privy mark coins from my mail order thru Australia Post. I heard that Australia Post remove the listings from their website for sold out popular items to stop hackers / bots from making invoices to Australia Post for sold out items.

If you have spares Jen, I'll buy some off you. Our post office had none.

I don't get it. Why would anyone bother trying to hack into Australia Post's website and create an invoice for a sold out coin? What would they gain from that? I still think it's a bit odd that there were so many colored sleepytime coins for sale from the dealers and on the Australia Post website to start with but the dealers and Australia Post aren't advertising now. Did they all sell out already? There are still some colored sleepytime coins for sale on ebay by sellers who don't appear to be connected with dealers but the asking prices aren't a reflection of the popularity or scarcity of a sold out coin. I wonder what is happening with these releases. Are they really popular and selling out quickly or is something else going on? The proliferation of these lollipop coins is looking more and more like Australia Post's overkill with too many stamps to gouge money out of collectors. Modern day stamps can be bought for much less than face value at auction these days. Will we see the same thing with the lollipop coins? Maybe that is why this sudden lack of 'collectable' coins is happening? An artificial scarcity to create the illusion of rarity and therefore valuable? Buyers have been sucked in before by false or misleading information from supposedly reliable sources - e.g. catalogue values for $1Black Caviar coins or 2006 50c gymnastics coins. Those coins aren't rare but prices paid always seem to be high. Are we seeing a similar thing here - an illusion of scarcity just to create a willingness from collectors to pay an artificial high price?

Looks like they aren't sold out. Plenty advertised on ebay, Australia Post online shop and some dealers advertising them too. Strange the ads disappeared for a while. Someone trying to make it look like they were scarce? All disappearing at the same time was odd though. Current prices on some sites are ridiculously high. Anyway happy hunting for those who collect them; plenty still there.
