2028 marks the 150th anniversary of the first Morgan dollar. What are the chances the mint uses the occasion as an excuse to issue a commemorative gold Morgan dollar?
If they do so what are the odds that the issue price will be less than the cost to acquire an actual MS65 1878 Morgan dollar?

I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to issue one.

Assuming it's 1 oz it pretty much depends on gold spot. An MS65 1878 Morgan today would be much less from any mint.

A Sesquicentennial commemorative seems likely. Personally, I hope the Mint produces any such coin in Silver not Gold.

Love the Idea,

I am thrilled and Would really like to see a Gold Morgan dollar,

I am a Long time admirer of George T. Morgan's Deliciously designed coinage and Medals.

I would venture that IF the Gold Morgan is released, It would Clearly cost more than a Gem Uncirculated 1878 Morgan silver dollar, Clearly...........

At least one that was not gold plated by home shopping networks.
