I want to submit 4 or 5 coins to ANACS for grading and certification. Is it best to just send them in or take them to a coin show that an ANACS representative is at? I was just going to mail them in, but saw there is a coin show coming up about an 1 hour
or so from where I live. I have very little experience with TPC's and would appreciate any advice.

If you want, make a post for each coin here on CCF with good photos. You'll get opinions if they are worth sending in for grading. A coin show would be fun to go to and talk to their rep, ask if there's any price difference between giving them the coins to grade or mailing them in. Either way you'll need to fill out their forms and pay obviously.

If the show is only a hour or so away, I would suggest bringing them to the show. If you have any questions about submitting, paperwork, timing, etc., you can get the answers on the spot.

Yes - learn how and get used to sending coins to ANACS. If you want to get them certified and slabbed at a reasonable rate then ANACS is the way to go -
And - a show might only be around you once a year - learn how to send them in when you want and Not rely on a show submission.

My experience is that it's easier to submit coins for grading at a show since it saves you the need to package and ship them.

Grading fees are the same, but you save the cost of shipping and insurance one way. You will still pay for return shipping and insurance.

The potential downside is waiting in line to hand them over. I did this once to PCGS at the big annual Baltimore show and waited in line for like 2 hours thereby missing a lot of valuable time on the bourse.

The rep will help you with the submission form, after that, it's just as easy to DIY it.
