I'm hoping there are more of these coins located, and to explore what caused it and how. The coin is mentioned by TheCoinHunt3ron YouTube and this coin has similar markings.
There is mention that this may have been done intentionally, but I feel I must disagree.

Where the mark is located, the outside rim also seems to deviate at the same spot and for the same length, suggesting to me it's a minting error.

Others reported the marking to be gouged out, but with mine the bur corkscrew effect is raised not sunken, I'm not if it's raised higher than the rest of the coin, the two fine lines do appear to grooved out, but the part within the groves is raised.
The reeded edge is two tone and appears to be uneven, and extends all the way around.

Both hunters and this coin are Canberra mint marked, coincidence maybe. What are your thoughts?

Several other people have mentioned the same markings on their coins. I've captured it various photographs, however don't have the best phone camera and I have a shaky hand so this was very hard to capture, I tried my best.

I also notice the CEN is odd.
Where others have said there is also a similar marking on the right side, the one on mine is faint and not precise almost scratchy looking.
Above the R in DOLLAR appears to be a similar sized and shaped marking.
Also, some of the numbers in the dates seem far too weak even though it's a badly beaten coin.

I'm probably looking too hard but I ask notice the two right stars catch the light very differently to the other stars, could be selective grime not sure.

So do you think I should Acetone the coin? And for how long if so.

Gee a bit of time spent with uploading Pics.,well done.m

Not my wheelhouse to comment but Coin is too marked for it to be anything but a novelty, signs of doubling is apparently common.

Just MO so hopefully someone with better knowledge of these coins will post.
