Are you referring to both the ear and claw? Just the Kings ear? Or the scuff mark under the Kings head? Or just the claw? Or the marks on his head or just the back or just the front of the coin. Or the entirety of the coin front back back.
I agree,. obviously it definitely has nicks and marks on it, its not uncirculated, I had already guessed the odd cross inside his ear was post mint.
It's the short claw that keeps me wondering about this coin.
I'm assuming it wasn't bumped off or nicked off by something or someone, maybe I'm wrong. I haven't thought the 1981 3.1/2 claw was bumped off from circulation, but yes I admit I can also see nicks and marks on those coins too, I can also look past that and surmise if it's Canadian made by the claw, but never has anyone suggested to me the mintmark was from nicks and marks.
I'm not selecting or taking cherry picked photos to make my observation more pronounced, no matter what I photos I take from any angle or light refraction, am I able to photograph the claw and it looks complete to me, so I can only assume it's not formed right
I've tried to upload videos, gif files and post links to videos of the foot rotating, but I didn't understand how that worked at the time, and I'm still working towards achieving uploading a decent video.
The short claw in the 1981 20c was done deliberately as a mint mark, I'm not aware of anything like that happening in 2025, maybe a dirty or blocked die, the second claw is also less evident at the tip then other 2025 coins I have to compare it to.
To clarify, cause I'm trying to work with your five or so words, you cannot see one claw if not two of them are shorter? It looks completely normal to you?
Or yes, it looks shorter however, that's just because it fell of during 'nicks and marks?
Or no it looks normal maybe a little longer than longer?
If your unable to see one is shorter that's fine, but I would have liked something constructive to work with.
I can see one or two aren't formed correctly I'm wondering how that could be, and I'm hoping someone can set me right, my only guess I have, is maybe from a dirty die or however you prefer to call it.
I can't disagree or agree with you, because I don't know which part/s you say you can only see as being from nicks and marks, and you can see what you see I can't disagree with your feelings, of course I agree I also see nicks and marks, that's very evident, it's a circulated coin.
Thank you for sharing what you can see, however if you add some substance then I may be able to learn from this.
