Noodling through some $1 coins today and found this one. A bit the worse for wear but it is a welcome addition to my Odds and Sods collection. Not a huge rotation but I think it's cool.

You must have an eagle eye to pickup on a 45 degree rotation error, congratulations on that!!

you just flip them in your fingers and check or do you have a method you use

I check EVERY coin that I pick up. All I do is hold the coin 'upright' between thumb and index finger then rotate it. Simply flipping a coin over could mean missing smaller rotations. I think there might even be a device like a protractor that you can use to measure the degree of rotation if you are really keen.

It pays to be careful if you are looking for upsets. I nearly missed a 2001 $1 Federation coin with a 180 degree upset just because I casually flipped it over. It was only because I turned it over again that I realised it was upset. A bit fiddly to check every coin this way but I think it's worth it. I'm certainly happy with my results so far. Happy hunting.

Well done Sally. Thats a hard coin to find! I found one in 2014 and have looked through thousands of $1 coins since but I have not seen another one since. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone. I'm really happy to have found an example. Certainly a welcome addition to my Odds and Sods collection
