Join us for a free event filled with coins, history and southern hospitality with the 41st director of the United States Mint and native Louisianan Paul Hollis as he shares how the Mint is celebrating the Nation's 250th anniversary with special coins and medals. Following, enjoy time to mingle with VIPs, Mint and New Orleans Jazz Museum staff, and representatives from Louisiana America 250 Commission.

Thank you for sharing. Sounds like a good time.

I enjoyed my visit to the old Mint back in 2016.

Much to my shame I've never visited the old Mint or Jazz Museum, despite going to NOLA twice a year. Well, I'll be back in December for Billy Strings - perhaps I could visit the Mint and Jazz Museum while SWMBO shops in the Quarter!

You need to! Add it to the list just before meeting up for some beignets.

Is NOLA fun when you get older? I thought it was a destination for rowdy college kids.

Absolutely, NumisEd - there are so many other activities besides the rowdy French Quarter / Bourbon Street stuff! Fantastic restaurants of every type. WWII Museum. Audubon Zoo. City Park. New Orleans Botanical Garden. Aquarium of the Americas. Great jazz clubs (bars for people our age - see the Livewire Music Calendar on WWOZ's web page for nightly shows). Shopping in the Quarter or Magazine Street (where we go). Coin shops (Gulf South Coins in Metairie, The Coins & Collectibles Shop in Kenner, and River Ridge Coins and Collectibles). jbuck will grief me if I don't mention two specific tourist must-dos: beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde, and hurricanes in the courtyard of Pat O'brien's (if you imbibe).

Yes. Especially if you like really good food.

This. I am a proud member. Plan to go more than once. There is a lot to see.
