1775 UK Halfpenny - Is It A Contemporary Counterfeit?

Altaira Pillar of the Community Canada 2516 Posts	Posted 05/12/2026 10:54 pm I don't typically come across British coins of this age, but after comparing with pictures online, I think this may be a contemporary counterfeit. Britannia looks somewhat elongated, and the curl under the shield isn't closed. Diameter a little over 28mm, I don't have a scale with me. Thoughts? What reference books should I be looking for, for both regal issues and contemporary counterfeit types? Report this Post to the Staff
