I have a 1954, '56, and '61 with similar brassy colour. Could it be what cents look like after being cleaned in vinegar ? The stripes look like what happens to photos in old plastic-page photo albums .

Hard to say exactly what caused the discolouration, there are so many different causes.
All that really matters is that it didn't happen when the coin was struck.
