I got this coin for free from a CCF member, Brandmeister. It has been cleaned, but it doesn't bother me, since it was a free coin. It was sent to me, along with a Flying Eagle cent, and a 1936 Lincoln Wheat cent. Thank you very much, Brandmeister!

BadThad, in hand it is. The pictures don't do it justice. These pictures were taken with overhead lighting, so it doesn't show it well.

I had wondered if the coin had been dipped or chemically treated. That purplish iridescence is unusual.

What is the window sill trick?

Thank you, jbuck!

Brandmeister, I am wondering as well. It's a problem coin, but I am not sure what was done to it to make it look the way it is.

The window sill trick is when you put a coin on the window sill. The sun over time will tone it. I think that's how it works, if I remember correctly.
