The legend 'Bank Deutscher Lander' on the 50 pfennig was changed to 'Bundesrepublik Deutschland' in 1950, but about 50,000 1950-G 50-pfennig coins exist with the earlier legend, and are quite valuable. During my pre-Euro visits to Germany, it was always quite exciting to get a 1949 50pf in change, and to turn it over - but I was always disappointed!
