Hi, I am new to coin collecting. I purchased this coin, and I saw this line cutout on the coin. It seems natural, but I read that things like this tend to happen during this year. Does anyone have an idea of what this might be, and if there is added value because of it? I've seen other cuts like this, but they look a lot rougher. Thoughts? Any help would be amazing!

to the CCF

It's damage that happened to the coin after it left the mint. It actually detracts from the coins numismatic value.

It is not an error, it is damage.
The only way something like that could happen when
the coin was struck is if it was a Struck Through and
that is not a Struck Through.

Well, I appreciate it! I really like the coin, but I didn't catch it at first glance. Learning lesson to apply to the next time! Appreciate you all for helping!

Must ask, what does the reverse look like? All aside, that's a cool '22 Peace dollar.

To CCF! I agree. Appears to be damage ( PMD).
