Alright, here's another piece I acquired a few years back with a small group of Russian coins. I cannot find any images that match it with a search of the interwebs, and it doesn't show up on an NGC world coin search, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Diameter = 37.4 mm
Thickness = 4 mm
Weight = 39.6 grams
Edge = diagonal reeding

She's a hefty chunk of metal.

Any assistance with identification is appreciated. My inclination is to think it's a reproduction/fantasy piece.

A search on numista turns up empty, as I tried several angles on finding what you have, so you could try to post this item over there on their forum and get more eyes on this. It may or may not be a 5 Kopeks as I didn't find anything on your item that says so, but it could be obscured by that clearly Russian counterstamp. The bottom word below the counterstamp appears to say Russia in Cyrillic. It could also be a modern repo, but seems more unlikely to me.

Thanks for that. Yes, it says "NOVAYA ROSSEESKAYA" or something like that on one side and "MOSKBA" (Moscow or something related to it?) on the other. It's antiquated Cyrillic. I think the counterstamp is over the denomination, but I just assumed it's 5 Kopeks mainly based on the size TBH. I'll see how I go on Numista.

I think the counterstamp covers up the word "KOPEYKA" (kopek, i.e. this is intended as a 1 kopek coin). The other side says "V MOSKVE" (in Moscow); the counterstamp, very crudely, says SPB (Saint-Petersburg).

My googling found just one relevant result - this thread (in Russian) on a Ukrainian numismatic forum, where it is described in some not-very-pleasant terms as a fantasy issue for tourists.
AFAICT no large copper or bronze coins are known to have actually been issued in Russia in 1739.

Glad to see J1M respond, so it must then be a modern fantasy item, but is still addable to Numista, I think even though the link he added is from 2013.

Thanks J1M. I don't suppose you've seen my post in the grading section about a 1727 polushka?
