Unexpectedly someone gifted me three Morgan dollars. This is the first. Thoughts? Thanks! the marks on the jaw appear to be roller marks. roller marks are considered minting damage. If they are light and don't affect the coin's luster or design, they may be acceptable in higher grades like Mint State (MS60-MS65). However, heavy or distracting marks can lower a coin's grade and value. I think these ones are borderline. I dont think they would details the coin but would lower the grade and value a tad.

Thank you for your kind comments and hope you are enjoying this day when we remember those who gave their lives so that we could be free and enjoy the ability to pursue happiness. A friend gave me three slabbed Morgans graded MS63 and then allowed me to look through his box of graded MS63 Morgans to exchange for any that I preferred. I went through the box and picked out this one as one of the three. This one was booming with luster.
