Marv65 Bedrock of the Community United States 10472 Posts	Posted 05/25/2026 02:48 am It's not Reed Marks - it's a scratch into the coin with metal pushed up on the sides. That's what happens when you use a microscope instead of looking at the coin first with a 5x loupe - the scope magnification distorts the image. What you are seeing is the scratch in RED with metal piled on the sides of it and the line/area in GREEN is lower than the scratched area. The wrong ighting can definitely make things look completely different. The microscope I have is a ELIKLIV EDM4C 4.3" with the built in scale, the scale failed shortly after getting it but hey, it was cheap, lol. Report this Post to the Staff
