Hey guys,
Any feedback from members regarding buying from APMEX? I'm mainly looking at 19th and 20th century silver coins and silver rolls.

I'm getting the sense they may be a little pricier than some competitors, but perhaps they make up for it with their huge inventory and selection. I'm also not really buying as an investment to flip later, this is more for enjoyment, to add to my holdings, and hopefully keep forever.

The prices seem to be in line with what I'd expect, but I'm concerned that my lack of experience could end up costing me. Any advice or things I should watch out for?

For context, I haven't added any coins to my collection in probably 15-20 years, and I may spend around $500 or so.

(I hope I'm posting in the correct forum/sub-forum.)

Thanks

I've bought coins from APMEX. As you've pointed out they're a bit on the pricey side, but they're extremely reliable. Every once in a while they will have deals on something I want though that puts them in the ballpark. I have to stress though I've never bought numismatic items from them though, only bullion related items.

Have you tried buying from a local Gold/Silver buyer? I used to buy lots of 90% silver from a buyer. I bought lots of older Morgan dollars, Barber coins, W.L. Halves & AU coins, for they weren't in the coin collecting aspect of it. Best of luck.

I would like to second what @how has said as that has been my experience as well.
