I got a nice gift from E&V in the mail today. This lovely 1957 proof nickel is labeled as DDO-002 (DDR-005). Based on the doubling on the star, I would call that attribution a pretty solid call. I will have the microscope out tomorrow to take some better images of the small details. Great coin, very nice surprise, thanks E&V! =)

You're very welcome, Brandmeister! I'm glad you like it. I figured that would be the perfect gift for you. Being both a DDO and a DDR is pretty cool! It's not very often that you have a Doubled Die on both sides. It's a pretty nice coin overall.

Ok, some scope images. The doubling for 1957 5¢ PF VDDO-002 shows up very strongly on the star. It is also visible on the lower left corners of the 19 and TY. I looked at the Variety Vista entry for 1957 5¢ PF VDDR-005, but I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be seeing in STATES. I captured an image of what might be doubling. Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

I can see the doubling in states, Brandmeister. You're correct.

Found a better description on Brian's Variety Coins. The reverse doubling is very fine. In the image above, it can be seen as a split on the bottom right serif of the second T in States. 1957 5¢ PF WDDO-001 / 1957 5¢ PF WDDR-003
