I'm not exactly sure what I have here. It is an Austrian 20 Kreuzer coin from 1823A. It appears to be a KM#2145 by design and inscriptions. However, that coin is supposed to be silver, 6.68 g and 27.6 mm dia.

Mine certainly does not appear to be silver, weighs 5.7g and has the correct diameter.

My first thought was that it was plated for some reason, but that would make it heavier not lighter.

Ideas?

Well... 1723 was Charles IV

Francis I of Austria was 1804 to 1835

https://en.numista.com/19931 KM#& 2143

KM#& 2145 is from 1829 to 1830 with a bigger head. Yours has a smaller head.

This is the 1823 20 kreuzer of Charles I and it's much more like what you've got.

However it isn't. It just looks wrong. Probably some kind of playing token, or maybe a bad contemporary fake, the letters are way to large to be real. And the colour is wrong.

It might be a contemporary counterfeit. Some of mine look that way.

Sorry. 1823 not 1723 as per my original posting. My senior's moment for the day!
