Hi all - new to the forum. I have a 1940 nickel passed down from my Grandfather. I know nothing about coins, but the note on this said "change, 1942, Memphis. Mistrike"
He was not a "collector", but kept monetary curiosities as he encountered them. Silver certificates, mis struck coins, things he found interesting.
This was one of them.
Does not appear to be ground or abraded in any way. Concave areas are very smooth. Looks hydraulic, almost like waves.
