Headed to the beach today...found a stupid penny...and...well...that's about it. What am I doing wrong! Hmmmm maybe I would be better off at a different place. I mean I have found more change in my back yard than my local beach which is completely rediculous. any tips?

maybe with the economy when someone drops something they actually stop to pick it back up

very true indeed. I found this huge hunk of steel at the beach too buried about 2 feet down. Surprised my Fisher f-5 was even able to pick it up. Turns out the thing was too big for me to dig it out. I bet it was a treasure chest or something with my luck. Maybe a buried ship...

Been detecting for over three years now, still get skunked now and again. When I first got my machine I searched my yard and found one quarter and some junk. I got really excited and went to the local park. I found no quarters and some junk. Two weeks later I searched my yard again and dug no less than a dozen wheat pennies, a Buffalo nickel and a NCO club token from Ft Kobbe in the Panama Canal Zone... Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you. Keep at it. Mr R

Don't let it get you down. It does happen. Happened to me a few times. But if you don't go and look you will never find anything. Try to look along the edge of the water where people sit and wade to keep cool. Also look to see how far back the majority of the people are sitting and look those areas. Maybe try early evening or late afternoon after most people have left for the day. I know there are alot of people that search the beaches. Just have to be lucky and find the stuff before everyone else. Good hunting.

I don't know where you are located, but, on Long Island (NY) the beaches here stink! We have had so much rain that no one was going.
I have just about given up (temporarily) hitting the beaches.
Hopefully soon the rains will stop, nice warm weather, and great finds!
But for now, I am here reading this.

haha I'm located in southern massachusetts and we're getting the same sucky weather as you. And I agree, I have given up on the beaches for now not even worth it if no one is showing up.

I've always found good luck around picnic tables at the beach, if you have those.
