Really? Is it proof? In that case the uncatalogued gives $11500. But, a pic would help determine if it's proof.

**Just for your interest, it's a Bombay penny.

We would need a picture. When you say you just found it, what do you mean? This coin in proof grade has a value of $40,000 Australian dollars in the Australian catalogues. It is very hard to find pre 1955 Australian pre-decimal proofs, very few were made. I hope for your sake that it is, because it will make a great story, but without a picture it is really hard to say.

Our pre-decimal proofs don't resemble modern proofs either, so if it does, someone has altered the coin.

And a big welcome to CCF too.

I doubt very much you have a proof. 1943I pennies are not exactly common in unc grades but they are not too hard to find either and the glossy brown you describe is what you'd find with a toned UNC coin. Pictures would be great.

There were no proofs produced that year. Only some restrikes produced in 1965, all of which are accounted for - sorry but your coin isn't proof.

The Bombay mint pennies were always well struck up, so it's probable that yours is just an early strike.

Just rename the file and make sure it is less than 100K. Do a resize.
