I'm looking to buy another pinpointer probe and just curious and what your takes are on different ones. I have a fisher probe now and its nice to stick in the ground on the account of it being so skinny. Although I hear the Garrett pro pointer and the Detector Probe Pistol are pretty good. My Fisher only reads at about an inch away and I'm looking for one that reads farther down. Much Thanks! :)

I have the Garrett pro pointer. It works good for what I need. You can't stick it into the ground though, just loose sand. This one also reads a target at about an inch away.

I have never used one. Never really saw a need for one. So those things only read about an inch away. Wow, I would have thought they read a little farther than that.

Yeah they are pretty useful, especially if the object is small. Although I agree, need more depth on them.

I have a white's pinpointer, it fits real good in my back jean's pocket while hunting. The thing I dont like is that when I first turn it on it only has a short range of about 1/2" and after it is on a few seconds the range gets bigger to more than an inch. Or if I turn it on and touch my digging tool with the probe the range gets bigger. I mentioned this to a whites dealer and he said it was designed to be that way.

It is a good pinpointer. It drives me crazy when it sounds off and I still can not find the metal. Most of the time it turns out to be a BB or something that tiny.
