I was in a coin shop yesterday and saw a coin exactly like that one. Can't remember what it was identified as, though. let's see if I can find out.

Ah, didn't take as long as I thought. Cherronesus, an ancient Greek city of uncertain location somewhere on what is now the Gallipoli peninsula, in European Turkey. It is believed by some to be another name for the ancient city of Kardia, situated at the base of the peninsula.

The coin is listed in the Sear catalogue of Greek coins as number 1602. Example on Wildwinds.

The weight is correct for a hemidrachm (the "book weight" for Sear #1602 is 2.4 grams).

If it's a fake, it's good enough to fool me from a photograph.

This is indeed a Cherronesos hemidrachm, but it's among the most common of all ancient Greek coins, not a rare coin, and not rare either in this condition either but very common.
