Hello all sorry I do not have a picture of this quarter, but told the owner of the coin that I would try to get the information for him. As far as I know the State Quarters all have a P or a D mint mark. Is this an error coin? Has anyone else heard about this error coin?

Thank you in advance for all your help and comments, it is much appreciated.

Without a picture it's difficult to give an educated answer. However, Grease Filled Die's are known to take out details on most coins.

That is my guess as well. I have heard of in god we rust quarters and I have seen letters obliterated by Grease Filled Dies. So definitely a cool find but without a picture to go by I would say Grease Filled Die.

Itsems every issue of the State Quarters has some design feature that is frequently filled with grease. The DE quarter were the First Stat_ quarters. The CT quarters frequent ha part of the word Charter Oak missing. The feature famous for disappearing on the NH quarter was the mint mark. At least until the Old Man of the Mountain pulled his own disappearing act in real life.

Thanks for the Welcome rockdude, Walking Liberty halves are my most favorite series. I am hoping to have pics this weekend of this mysterious quarter. The owner found one on the bay but there were so many scratches in the field. Almost as if it had a harsh cleaning, told the owner that I had hoped his fields were clearer as it would be easy to grind mint mark off, then cover up with some serious scratches. Once I get the pics I will bring them back here for you guys and gals to determine.
