Eaglefoot, we are among the more fortunate. I am on line, and surfing, or lurking, just reading the posts, w/o "checking in", or just haven't gotten to that forum yet. At my age, evert day is today, and I like to see what is going on, and who is doing it. Yes, I srill cearch boxes of cents, I am a varietuy collector, have been ever since I joined coppercoins.com. Before that, I just bought wheat, and Canadian, and now and then M<exican coins. But when I found the varieties, I was hooked!. I bounce from the french-languafge forums, to the inglish speaking forums, most ot the ones which have a lot to do about IHC, US, or Canadian coins, in general.
Many have very little activity, and others have much less than normal. Times are not that good, and those who had jobs, were able to check in frequently, but now their time is spent finding a way to make ends meet. I have been "down that road", where my job was no longer there, and on a couple ocassions, I had to sell my Mexican coin collections, to "feed the kids". Those days are gone, now that I am retired, and no one wants tho hire an 85 year-old fart, even if I wanted to look for work!

Don't know about others here but as for me, way to much to do. Coin shows now on the increase here. Now standard 4 per Month and all withing about 15 miles or less. Occational large shows such as the 50th Illlinois Numismatic Association's 3 day show on Sept. 17 to 19.
Being into cars, there is now car shows every week also. Throw in gun hshows, camera shows, computer shows, electronic shows, knife shows, there is just not enough time. Also, since I have seveal convertible cars, need this time of year to drive them. Now throw in my garden, parties, bar-b-ques, etc. I'm suprized I have time for anything else.
Then of course there is just hobbies.

In addition to what the others have said, I think the fact that lack of new coins in circulation is not helping either.

For example, in the UK, I have only seen 1 pence coin with the 2009 date. There are also 2008 coins that I have to see as well.

I also read on the forums about the difficultly in finding the 2009 Nickels and Dimes.

I know I been so busy working intill the last few weaks since I lost my job . My coins and collection just sat there and collected dust for about an year. I know times are hard but I hope I can get another job again. In last year I onley been on this forum maybe once or twice compared when I used check it once an day everyday. With work and stuff , like auto repairs, house repairs etc just took all my time to even think about coins . Ow well thats life.

One thing for sure is the weather. Not sure where your at but here in the MidWest the weather has been great for outdoor stuff. In the Chicago area there are those taste of Chicago and the same for almost every suburb. Those outdoor concerts in the parks keep people out most of the time. Having several convertible cars makes sitting in the house just not something to do either.

See what I mean. Coins are for when the weather is bad. Now back to the outdoors.
