Copper seems to be heading back up. Besides collecting pre-82 cents, Has anyone actually bought copper bullion? I've seen a few nice looking copper bullion bars but here is a link to a ridiculous copper bar. There is 296% more copper in a pre-82 cent than this bar and the starting bid is $9.99 plus $3.50 shipping! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...250498862369

I like in that auction how the person says "I am not an expert in this field". They are a coin and stamp dealer! Do they say that to justify the high price? LOL

.999 1 Gram Fine Copper Bar

There's something amusing about this.
1 lb = 454 grams, and copper is ~$3/lb.
Therefore, $10/gr = $4540/lb.

the seller seems to be selling it as a trinket for necklace or bracelet. That could explain the $10 price tag.

I for one think it would be hilarious if you had a stockpile of 1 gram copper bars. Maybe you could get some of those old micro army men and have them guard them from some ants....on a day when you are board with nothing to do this could be very entertaining.

Not sure why copper is raising in price, since we are estimated to have 5,000,000 years of copper left at current extraction rates.

It's the cost of the mining equipment, tools, trucks, gas and employee liability insurance that keeps the price climbing.

I'm still not convinced that hoarding pre-82 cents is worthwhile, since I don't think it will be legal any time soon to melt these and transporting them to another country to melt down is waaaaaay to expensive.

How about some real copper bullion?

It's estimated that 95% of all the gold ever mined in the history of
mankind is still accountable for, yet gold seems to be doing alright
these days.

Silver and copper have many industrial uses that gold does not, and
the reclamation rate from those uses is very low (compared to the
reclamation rate of gold). This necessitates more mining, and mining
gets costlier with the progress of time.
