I came across this coin while searching ebay this week while searching for a seated w/ motto quarter for my type set. Owner has it listed at $199. Owner grades it AU/MS Beauty.
What would you properly grade it?

P.S. I did not buy this coin!

Looks harshly cleaned and scratched, very nice detail on the reverse. Might have made MS grade without the scratches. I'm going to grade this at AU-55 damaged.
Rest in Peace

AU-50 details harshly cleaned/damaged. Not worth anything nearly the listing price imo.

What a mess! Scratched, cleaned, dipped and overdipped, nasty. You might as well drill a hole through the center and spoon it into a ring at this point. Worth maybe $20 to a collector, maybe a bit more if you want a really good example of what NOT to do to a coin.
Rest in Peace

I would agree, AU details and really messed up, probably a $30 coin give or take a little.

Good call not buying it. It has way too much going on with it...
