Friends ! I am very happy today because I have just received some precious coins.
I ordered these coins through internet in China.
These Chinese coins are also non-noble metal commemorative coins.
In fact, they are of brass material.

They are the ealiest non-noble metal commemorative coins in China and they are originally sold only to abroad. Even now many Chinese collectors do not know them. That is why they are precious.
Today I received them and I really fall in love with them. I will take some nice pictures and post here later.

Taiwan scenery.

From 2003, China began issuing Taiwan scenery commemorative coins.
2 coins in 2003, 2 coins in 2004, 1 coin in 2005. Now there are altogether 5 coins as below:

Lunar Zodiac.

From 2003, China began issuing brass commemorative coins for Lunar Zodiac.
Now there are only 4 coins. We can only collect the first full set after 2014.
These Lunar Zodiac coins have very traditional Chinese design.

djluster, the average price of these 1 YUAN coins is just USD1.00~2.00.
Average price for 5 YUAN coins is about USD2.00~2.50.
Price for each one will be different because of the original denomination, mintage quantity and issuing date. These commemorative coins have appreciated a lot compared with their original denomination. But I think they are still very cheap.

Some items will be expensive. For example PANDA bronze 5 YUAN coin is about USD6.50~7.00. GOLDEN MONKEY is about USD7.00~7.50.

Then for some early commemorative coins whihc I have not posted pictures yet. Some are very expensive as USD45.00 or even USD200.00.
But only 1 coin is USD200.00
And 3 sets are of USD15.00 ~ USD45.00. All the other early commemorative coins are still under USD10.00 or USD5.00.

I am not rich. I like to collect non-noble metal coins because they are cheap.
For these commemorative coins, I think all of us can afford them. They are not silver or gold. The actual value is not too important. The most important is that we can exchange coins of our own coutry which is easy to get with coins from other countries which is hard for us to collect.

lim, I am also very interested in Australian commemorative coins.

I hope I can collect all these non-noble metal commemorative coins from Australia one day.

I am eager to receive your proposal. Or maybe I can inform you what Aussie coins I want.

bob_yan_cn,

I am still interested in a set of the "World Cultural Heritage" UNC coins if you could obtain a set for me.

Le me know what you would like to trade them for, can send you a 2006 50 Years of Decimal Currency UNC set if you are interested.

Email me to discuss.....I am on a holiday in North Queensland at the moment so do not always get to a computer.

Well I must agree with Lim! The Chinese 5 Yuan Rare Animal bronze coins are absolutely beautiful and in my opinion a MUST HAVE from China. I do hope there are coins bob_yan wants from the U.S. or Canada as I hope to trade for these real soon. I do hope he can find them in uncirculated condition!!! Great set of coins.

Hi, Terry.

If you have Canadian commemorative coins, I'd like to swap with you.

I also like some old coins from America.

Hi, I have been on a trip last weekend and just came back last night.

Tonight I have prepared 5 sets of circulated Chinese coins for exchange purpose.
I have taken picture for your reference too.

Sorry the picture is not so good. I have used flash and the coins reflect the flash. So I took 2 pictures from 2 angles. So that every coin can be seen clearly.

The first line from left:
Reverse of 1 FEN, obverse of 1 FEN, obverse of 2 FEN, obverse of 5 FEN, reverse of 5 FEN
This 3 coins are the first circulated coins of China and they have been used for quite a long time. But now they are seldom used because their denomination is too small now.

The second line from left:
Reverse of 1 JIAO, obverse of 1 JIAO, obverse of 5 JIAO, obverse of 1 YUAN, reverse of 1 YUAN.

This 3 coins are the second set of circulated coins of China. They have been used for about 10 years. Then China issued new edition coins which is on the third & fourth line.
The 3rd & 4th line from left:
Reverse/Obverse of 1 JIAO, Reverse/Obverse of 1 JIAO, Reverse/obverse of 5 JIAO, Reverse. Oberseof 1 YUAN.

Careful friend may found that there are the same 2 1 JIAO coins on the 4th line. They look the same, but in fact they are different on the metal.

Today I have taken pictures of some more coins.

Introducing-Non-Noble-Metal-Chinese-Commemorative-Coins

This is the Great Wall 4 coin set (Y#24, Y#25, Y#26, Y#27). This set is a special circulated coin set. People's Bank of China issued these coins together with the 3rd edition RMB paper money from 1980 and have thought to put these coins into circulation. I don't know exactly the reason, maybe the denomination is too high at that time. These coins failed to circulate and people still use 1 fen, 2 fen & 5 fen coins till 1990s. Then the coins (1 jiao, 5 jiao, 1 yuan )with 4th edition RMB start to circulate.
But these coins have really been put into circulation, though only a very small quantity. The coins in picture is what my great finding when I was a child. I have kept them since then.
