Has any body thought of reporting the coin as counterfeit to E-Bay?

The seller has disclosed that it is a 1909 V.D.B. with S added. I don't think reporting it will do any good. If he was passing it off as a genuine 09-S V.D.B., then we'd have a problem. On another note. After reading his item description, there is no doubt in my mind that the seller is shady. These bidders know what this coin is. If they still want to bid on it, well, that's their stupidity.

Hopefully ebay will remove it. This is my letter to them: Quote:This seller is selling a coin that has been altered! Although he states that it has indeed been altered! The problem is if it's legal and within ebay policy! The coin WAS a $15.00 coin (maybe) and now represents a $1500.00 coin (or more). So now this coin is actually a (copy, replica, reproduction or counterfeit) of the $1500.00 coin and is not marked as such. If this coin is allowed to sell on ebay you can pretty much guarantee it will be relisted down the road by an even shadier character with the intent to pass it off as the real thing at a huge profit! This is the kind of thing that makes us collectors cringe (and the hobby protection act is supposed to protect us from) Thanks for your time (and hopefully your support) in this matter!

He has three other auctions and all of them have the added S. Also, his feedback is all over 90 days old and the items he has sold are listed as "private." This doesn't look good at all, on any level.
Nice letter ratman. I hope it accomplishes something.

There should be a fund available that all decent coin collectors donate to to purchase these fakes and get them off the market and destroyed. Secret squirrel stuff :-) ...of course that would make a market for the fakes - so we would have to use Plan B which of course we cannot talk about.

Who say's this isn't the seller who counterfeited these coins in the first place?

Finally got a response (actually 3) from ebay! They cancelled all 3 auctions for policy violation! WOOHOO! Success! I actually gave up on them doing anything about these. They must have really had to put their thinking caps on to make this decision! EDIT...Actually, at least 2 of these auctions had ended yesterday before ebay made their decision. So the transactions were probably already completed and the Seller probably has been paid.
