I picked this up today in a lot with other foreign notes that I could ID...I'm not good with languages that I don't know unfortunately. I can usually make out a word or two and look it up from there, but any of them that I try from this one is just hitting a dead end. Any help, even with just the country of origin would be great! Thanks!

Yup, it's the People's Republic of Bulgaria. I see these quite often.

Thanks guys! Very helpful...I had absolutely no idea. I figured it was Eastern European of some sort just because of the text...was kind of hoping for Czech or something close because that's where my ancestors are from, but for a couple of quarters I'm not going to complain :) It's a colorful, interesting looking note that I didn't have before today. Thanks for your help IDing it!

The whole 1951 set is easily obtainable in uncirculated condition for a small price -- I can even remember when they were giving out the 3 Leva note as a premium in cereal, back in the early 70s.

WpgLwr: Wow! I've seen a lot of prizes in cereal, but I don't know if I've ever seen them just pack in money!

Actually, I recall two occasions when this was done up here, first in the early 70s in Muffets
Help-With-ID-On-This-1951-European-Banknote?
which also around the same time had a promo where they gave away small packets of Stamps for collectors, and a wide range of Post cereals around 1991, where one could get notes such as the smaller Indonesian 1965 issue and the 1953 Chinese fen issues. Along with the Bulgarian 1951 3 Lev, I also pulled from Muffets the small pink Laos 1958 5 Kip issue.

Is it just me, or is that a drag queen on the back of this note?

Actually, the 1 lev note of this series is often overlooked, and missing from many collections. Although not actually "rare", it is seldom seen offered.

Holy cow, you're right...I don't have one of those...and don't really recall ever seeing one. "Overlooked" is right.

That 1 lev note is pretty nice...I definitely wouldn't mind picking one up if I ever run across one.
