Does anyone know the trick to cracking out a coin in an ANACS holder?

I read Travers article which only explains how to crack out an NGC or PCGS holder.

Thanks

they are all different...for example you hammer an NGC holder on the side to crack it and you use wire cutters on the side to crack a PCGS holder, each holder has a trick to it..(supposedly)

Are we talking the new ANACS holder or the old one? If it's one of the new ones, here's what I did to liberate my 1921 Peace dollar. Take a pair of pliers and grab and crack the corners of the slab. Once the corners give, it's simply a matter of prying the two halves of the slab apart. Be very careful with this part of the operation as it's very easy to scratch your coin here. Once the slab is split, pop your coin out of the gasket and its free!

I have found on the new Anacs holders, the easiest way for me is to use a large flat tip screwdriver. Put the tip between the two edges of the holder and twist. The 2 that I have cracked came right apart.

Yeah, Dremel is the easiest and safest (IMO) option out there. At least you can control what / where you cut.

I just get two 10" ViseGrips and twist til it cracks, then a standard screw driver and pry the rest open. But my method occasionally has flying plastic shards, so... maybe its time for a dremmel?

The new ANACS are pretty easy. They come apart by just prying the 2 sides apart. They have really thick gaskets to protect the coin as well.

I have made most of the gasket molds for the anacs holders, and keep the holder molds in good condition, also. They are ultrsonically welded together,as most slabs are.You shouldn't have too much trouble seperating the halves. No glue or anything involved....

Actually, I'm getting all my coins slabbed now because I know my sons will never know what or to liquidate the loves of my life unless someone shows the actual grade of the coin. I know, not fool proof but at least it'll give them a base to operate.
