The date on this German coin stood out, so I've taken pics. Is it MD or DD? And could anyone please remind me, what's the difference? .. in simple words - please don't copy a definition from somewhere..

How about the weird toning on these 2 coins, should this be classified as AT?

That looks like a DD to me. Wouldn't MD affect the whole coin?

The German coin is interesting I think see notching on the two 9 digits in the date.
Closeups of the date and the letters C,A,D in DEUTSCHLAND might confirm it as a doubled die.

Update--here are two areas where I see separation that I wouldn't expect on an MD coin.

This is as close (C,A,D) as I can get based on the photos I already have.

That is definitely a doubled die- nice separation on the letters
Notice that the sharp corners of the lettering are notched and separated(most obvious with the two points of A). It is not just an outline of the lettering but instead completely separate lettering. MD would just be a flat, shelf-like outline of the lettering with no separation.

As for the Austrian(?) and Hungarian coins, do they have a brass composition? It has the appearance of cleaned brass that has retoned, not necessarily AT though.

Yes, those pics really help--I agree with biokemist
This is also a good example of the date being on the hub when the die was made, since it's doubled like the rest.
