alganbagerap Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2490 Posts	Posted 11/26/2009 2:35 pm If it anything like a British agricultural medal, the space within the wreath would usually be engraved with something like:" Jaques Duval, 1st prize for onions" They are more interesting when engraved, and of course easier to date. chrisild Pillar of the Community Germany 1238 Posts	Posted 11/30/2009 07:33 am Here is a medal of the same type, except it was awarded by a horticultural (gardening) society, and in a different part of France. But the design of the other side is the same: http://www.muenzauktion.com/saive/i...php5?id=4872 This one actually has a name and a date; it was awarded in May 1874. As for the signatures, "A. Borrel F." refers to the designer Alfred Borrel (1836-1927); guess that "Bescher Ed." is another designer or maybe engraver.
