Hey I got to thinking .. .. we are doing all the legwork and somebody can come in at the end and guess at the last second. I kinda wish this was closed to new players at some point. There I said it. Now I'm going to take a couple aspirin. LOL

I'm not going to lie the thought had crossed my mind , but I had decided to sit this contest out cause I don't know enough about world coins and I don't have the time to look all the stuff up online. It might be a good rule though for those of you who have been guessing all along.

Hi Wheezydog... you busted me. I guess fair's fair though. Been taking notes on all of your guesses, so here's what I can give all you guys. 1 Argentina 10 centavos 2 Aruba 50 cents 3 Iceland 5 Aurer4 India 1 rupee 5 Cyprus 1/2 Piastre 6 Czechoslovakia 20 K#269; 7 France 1 Franc 8 Italy 50 Lire 9 USA Dime 10 UK Crown 11 Canada Large Cent12 Jamaica 25 cents Based on everyone's guesses, USA Dime is in position 9. There are a couple of countries whose possible locations on the list have now been minimized. But I'm going to keep that to myself, since keeping track of all your guesses involves a lot of work too. Guesses 2 and 4 are junk guesses because I have no clue. Also, there are a lot of countries that have not been put on the "Definitely not list," including: JAMAICA 3 (50 cents, 1 farthing, 20c AUSTRIA 1 (10 groschen) BULGARIA 1 (20 stotinki) EAST AFRICA (10 cents) FRENCH POLYNESIA 1 (5 francs) HUNGARY 1 (1 forint, 2 forints) IRAN 1 (2 rials) ARUBA 1 (25 cents) GUYANA 1 (1 dollar) GEORGIA 1 (1 thetri) CEYLON 1 (1 rupee) INDIA 1 (1/2 pice) FRANCE (2 Francs CZECHOSLOVAKIA (5 Kcs.) Note: this is in caps because it is a copy from my notepad. I would assume that at least half of this list should be on the "Definitely not" list. I've kept some notes to myself, since I figure that's also fair. Good luck to all.

LOL! I am speechless .... I knew I would wish I had not posted that. No hard feelings I hope. This isn't my contest, I should have left it go, now I'll have to make a contest up myself really soon so I can make up all the rules.

Hi Wheezy, I'm glad you posted that. I thought of it as well yesterday, and was trying to think of how to get around it I think Ferret552 hit the nail on the head, though, when he said, "Fair is fair" - At least for where we currently stand, he's put in some work keeping track of guesses, and from his list(s) he's definitely a contributor and sharer of the headache (will get to that in a sec). He was very nice and posted his research. However, someone sitting on the sidelines, doing the same research but keeping it to themselves, could then pipe up with all 12 in order to win the day 12 coin. It still takes some work on the part of the new participant but it wouldn't feel good. And we don't want to harbor any ill feelings.. that coin might show up to the winner with a lump of coal Contests are supposed to be fun - nerve-racking maybe, but that's part of the fun (haha) and participants should play in that spirit. So.. today is come-out-of-the-contest-closet day. If you've only been watching and would like to participate, please make guesses before 9PM EST Today. After that, guessing will continue on the 12 but will be closed to new entrants. When we have a winner for day 12 and I re-shuffle, we'll reopen to new entrants. At that time I'll let you know when new participation will be closed (probably something like, after the positions of 4 or 5 have been guessed). And so on. When we get down to a certain day, all new participation will be closed, and when we get down to the 1st day, I'm going to want the year of the coin. As for Ferret's lists, I'm going to wait until after 9pm to comment on those and yesterday's guesses. During this time everyone please also share what you think of the solution and if it will fix the potential issue.
